BHC Dubrava i Detono Zagreb prvaci Hrvatske | BHC Dubrava and Detono Zagreb won Croatian Championship

BHC Dubrava in women’s and Detono Zagreb in men’s competition won the Croatian Championship titles. Girls from Dubrava lost against the Hungarian team Agenta Girls in the finals, but despite that, they won the Croatian Championship. BHC Sesvete were celebrating in the finals against Detono Zagreb and won the Zagreb Open, but not the domestic Championship.

Third tournament of the domestic Championship, Zagreb Open 2016, was played and the names of the Croatian champions were known. The titles went to BHC Dubrava and Detono Zagreb. In total, 55 teams participated in senior, junior and youth categories. BHC Sesvete in men’s and Agenta Girls in women’s competition won Zagreb Open 2016.

In the women’s final match, BHC Dubrava played against the Hungarians, but luckier were the girls from Hungary beating Dubrava with 7:6 in soot-outs. Despite the defeat, Dubrava won the Croatian Championship once again.
Third place at Zagreb Open went into the hands of the domestic team ŽKRP Kontesa Nera who won the Hungarian team OVB Beach Girls with 2:0 in sets.

In the men’s finals, Detono Zagreb did not play against BHC Dubrava, as on the last two tournaments, in Cakovec and in Ivanic-Grad. BHC Cakovec kicked Dubrava out in the quarterfinals, and the two teams that were fighting for the golden medal were Detono and Sesvete. Sesvete managed to beat Detono once again, as they celebrated in the group phase of EBT Finals in Greece this spring. However, Detono won their ninth domestic Championship title despite their defeat.

“I think that we have played a great match. We weren’t so good in the first set, and they are a great team. In the second set we have shown that we have the perspective and I hope that we will win a lot more tournaments instead of Detono”, said the goalkeeper of Sesvete, Dominik Markovic.

Captain of Detono Zagreb, Ivan Juric, had only the good words for the team of Sesvete. “It’s obviously that their way of play doesn’t suits us and I can only congrat them for beating us. Two times in the season, nobody did this. I congrat them also for winning Zagreb Open. By the law of the large numbers, it had to happen that someone, except Detono, wins Zagreb Open. The guys played very good, they had more concentration in the shoot-outs and I have nothing more to say”.

In the match for third place, BHC Čakovec won White Boys with 5:2 in shoot-outs.
